I currently work in the state of Missouri, which is not a licensed state for Naturopathic Doctors. We are currently pursuing licensure, however, these things can take a long time. Previously, I practiced in Arizona which is a fully licensed state for NDs-meaning we can perform physical examination, diagnose, treat, prescribe medications if needed, and fully manage medical cases. Since I am in Missouri-an unlicensed state, there is not a specified scope of practice.

If you would like me to work on your case, and provide my naturopathic insight, there are few things you need to know:

  • I cannot take over as your primary care physician or specialist. Any physicians that you are currently seeing, I will not be a replacement for them. You will need to continue seeing your current physicians. I often encourage bloodwork that you should have done with your physicians and this is also why I encourage you to maintain a relationship with your physician.

  • I do not take people off of nor do I manage medications.

  • Anything that we discuss, you are encouraged to discuss with your physician managing your health.

  • I do not diagnose or treat anyone that I see and usually everyone that sees me already has a diagnosis. If you have chronic symptoms but have never received a standard medical work-up, I will recommend you see a licensed physician where you are located that can run the appropriate labs and imaging.

  • I do see cases outside of Missouri, however, if you’re in a licensed state I will do my best to refer you to trusted colleagues. I understand that many people inquire about my services because of my history of training in gastroenterology, however, I do have brilliant colleagues that may be able to help you where you are located.

  • Many conditions require medications or periods of medication use. Many people decide not to take medication for various reasons however, I do not replace medical advice you receive from your physician with alternative options. Examples include:

    • If you are on steroids for an autoimmune flare, I will never provide an alternative that you can use “instead of taking the steroids”. Instead what I will do is put together some insights for ways to support the body so that hopefully, when you come off of the steroids, your system can maintain balance.

    • If you are recommended a procedure such as an upper scope or colonoscopy, I will encourage that you follow your doctor’s orders and have the recommended procedure performed. You are not forced to do anything but be mindful that if you have an issue that your doctor believes requires further imaging/testing/procedure, I will encourage that be performed as directed.

    • If your doctor prescribes blood pressure medication to control your pressure, I do not provide insights that will allow you to “avoid taking medications and instead use alternative ways to control your blood pressure.” However, I work with you in providing naturopathic insights to support a healthy cardiovascular system. I see many metabolic cases and they come to me on prescribed medications. Once we are able to successfully add naturopathic tools, these clients will then go back to their prescribing physician who will manage their prescriptions and decide if they can reduce their dose or if there is a need for the medication any longer.

  • I take a very gentle approach and I like to work with the body, not against it. If you’re looking for someone to recommend many different supplements or functional tests, we’re likely not a good fit for you. The body is very wise and I strive to work with that wisdom, not against it.

  • Please make sure you are up-to-date with your primary care doctor relative to labs or bloodwork. Up-to-date means within the past 6 months. You need to also be up-to-date with your specialists if you are also being managed by them.

  • There are many tools in Naturopathic Medicine that can support your system. If you’re interested in my Naturopathic insight into your case, please reach out via the contact page. I see a small number of cases per month.

  • I thoroughly believe in the power of nature and science for improving our health. I feel honored that you’re considering me and I look forward to hearing from you. When you fill out the contact form, you will receive an email response informing you of if I am able/willing to work with you and your case, along with my price structure.

  • If we do work together, we will discuss the informed consent documents which you will be able to review and sign.

  • If you’re confused about anything listed on this page, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
